Budget 2009 – Broadband Promise Cut
Just weeks after the news that the Australian government plans on building a brand new broadband network for Australia, they have now announced that the budget for the network has been slashed over $40 million.
The Australian IT website is reporting that:
The scheme, known as the Australian Broadband Guarantee (ABG), was allocated $271 million over four years in last year’s budget but budget papers released yesterday, indicated that it would receive $230 million over four years from 2008-09.
