The Nutwork SEO Experiment

hidden seo word

During the week we were discussing SEO in the office, as we do.  A “debate” broke out as to whether Google is the know-it-all we give it credit for, or if it really is slightly fallible.  So we decided the best way to test Google was to create an experiment.

The test is to prove whether:

1.       Google will index hidden text

2.       Google will not index hidden text

Ok, you might not see the significance of that straight off BUT it's actually a very valid SEO test.  If Google does index hidden text, then we can conceivably, if we are being very naughty, hide keywords on our page enough for Google to pick them up, but not for our users to see.  This is considered "black-hat" SEO and should not be done by any self-respecting SEO guru.  However, for the purposes of the experiment, we will do it on this page.

The word we will hide is in the image above.  FYI "“ Google cannot index the words in images.  It's not that good.  Currently, that word does not return any search results.  We will check back every week to see if the hidden word is indexed.

All good experiments have a control.  The control on our case will be morgostevecara.

Group 1 will be the winner if the word in the image and morgostevecara are indexed.

Group 2 will be the winner if only morgostevecara is indexed.

Stay tuned to find out who the winner is.
