There’s been a lot of internet chatter and discussion over the last few weeks about the lack of a R18+ classification for Australia.
Just recently the OFLC refused to classify a new game, Fallout 3, which has caused outrage amongst gamers and libertarians alike. The game was refused a classification because Australia doesn’t have a R18 for gamers – only movies.
That means that any game that would normally be suitable only for adults is completely banned in the country.
In a highly unusual move and due to the amount of pressure that was resulting from an wave of complaints coming in from the gaming and internet community, The Attorney General has released a letter to the gaming community in relation to his refusal to change the laws and allow a R18+ classification for Aussie gamers.
