Skype 4.0 Upgrade

SkypeSkype have released a new test version of their latest 4.0 upgrade which claims to have improved video and calling options which promises to improve the overall experience.

The VoIP provider is promoting its video calling service heavily – saying it currently has paid accounts for 28 percent of all of its users.

The new version allows for video calls to be launched with just one-click and can be used in conjunction with a one-click IM chat session. Also by default, Video calls will now start in a larger screen which was one of the previous annoying things about the program.

Skype 4.0 is still in a beta form but the company is seeking feedback from the users who download it to help them shape the final product. Skype have been well known for taking on board comments from their users.

Version 4.0 has also been designed to accommodate Skype-certified hardware, allowing the application automatically to recognise new devices such as headphones, mobile phones and other devices on the horizon.

Skype continues to grow in popularity for making local and long distance voice only calls as well using their VoIP network – especially as more and more homes take up broadband and the quality of the calls becomes much closer to using a land line phone.

Mobile phone operator Three already offer a mobile phone contract that uses Skype for its calls.
