Perth Daylight Savings and Outlook Issue

If you live in Perth, you may have been made aware that your PC was set to the wrong time this morning.

That’s due to the messy way Microsoft is handling Daylight Savings on your computer – your PC still thinks WA has daylight savings even though we voted it down.

Microsoft are aware of the problem, but wont be releasing a fix until next year!

if you manually change your clock, it’s just going to reset itself as it normally checks the internet for time every now and then. If you untick the Daylight savings box, you will be horrified to find all of your Outlook calendar appointments now showing the wrong times!

Microsoft and Yahoo Search Deal

Microsoft and Yahoo! have announced their new deal that they hope will improve the web search experience for users and, importantly, advertisers. Microsoft have gobbled up their rival Yahoo!’s search while Yahoo! will become the new exclusive worldwide sales force for both of the companies – a very cosy agreement.

Effectively that means that Google now only has one major search engine competitor and advertising rival – although in both respects Google still holds a vast market share – but that could change.

This tool allows you to check your computer or laptop for hardware compatability to run the upcoming Windows 7.

Microsofts blog writes:

When a new version of Windows is released, people either upgrade their existing PC or purchase a new PC with the latest version of Windows already pre-installed. For the people who want to upgrade their existing PC, they are often faced with the question of whether their PC can run the new Windows version or not. As we announced last week, Microsoft plans to offer a tool that can be used to determine if a PC is able to run Windows 7"“ Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor.
